Discovery and Eurosport today announced it has appointed experienced Swedish broadcaster and journalist Jonas Berg to the position of Executive Producer – Tennis.
Berg, who takes on the role from 1 January 2019, will assume responsibility for all of Eurosport’s tennis output that includes every Grand Slam – the Australian Open, Roland Garros from Paris, The Championships at Wimbledon and the US Open from New York.
Berg boasts a wealth of experience in the media industry having worked as a prominent award-winning investigative and sports journalist for over two decades. He assumed the role of NENT Head of Sport Program Manager in December 2016 where he has driven major sports events such as the Champions League, English Premier League, Formula One and golf’s Majors. Berg has also worked as a respected commentator at some of the sport’s major tournaments since 2001, such as Wimbledon and ATP Masters Series events.
Berg will be tasked with developing Eurosport’s tennis production offering that includes the popular Game, Schett and Mats flagship show with a view to strengthening its position as the home of the greatest tennis events on the planet.

One of my best memories was seeing Mats Wilander take on Ivan Lendl in the 1988 US Open final – and now I will get to work with him as well as the likes of Barbara Schett and our stellar cast of tennis experts.

Berg’s first assignment will be to oversee Eurosport’s broadcast of the Australian Open in January, with the qualifying tournament starting on Tuesday 8 January and main draw coverage commencing on Monday 14 January.
