Discovery and Eurosport recognised with IBC Innovation Award for transforming Olympics viewing experience

Discovery and Eurosport have been recognised for its game-changing approach at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 by clinching the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) Innovation Award for Content Creation.

The Eurosport cube was acknowledged as one of the key innovations of the Games in February 2018, with IOC President Thomas Bach observing that it “brings the challenges that all athletes face closer to people who are watching”.

A first-of-its-kind mixed reality studio using AR and VR technology, the cube created a fully interactive environment that took analysis from the flat screen and enabled experts to explain the technical aspects of sport using their hands and their bodies, telling more immersive stories in a way that made the complicated simple.

The IBC Innovation Awards took place last night (Sunday, 16th September 2018) in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
