• Final challenge in Eurosport’s Home of Cycling Series launches today
• Month-long International Ride Challenge open to cyclists of all levels
• Fans can win a VIP seat in a Trek-Segafredo team car at the Vuelta a España
Eurosport, the undisputed Home of Cycling in Europe, has today launched the final challenge* in its Home of Cycling Series, allowing fans to live and breathe their passion for cycling and win once-in-a-lifetime prizes.
Launching today, the International Ride Challenge offers novice riders the opportunity to win the money-can’t-buy experience of travelling in an official team car at the final Grand Tour of the year, the Vuelta a España.
Throughout August, Eurosport and Strava will be challenging enthusiasts to share their passion for cycling and their country by measuring which nation rides the furthest on average**. Any fan that signs up to the Eurosport International Ride Challenge page on Strava and rides at least 30 kilometres during the month will be entered in to the draw for a VIP seat in a Trek-Segafredo car during a Vuelta a España stage.
Eurosport has partnered with Strava, the social network for athletes, to power the challenge and record participants’ performances. The Eurosport Club page will provide all the latest cycling news, video highlights and expert opinion exclusively from Eurosport.
To enter the challenge, participants should download the free Strava app or sign-up to the social network online and connect to www.strava.com/eurosport. Winners for the contest will be drawn from all riders who successfully completed the challenge.
Commenting on the International Ride Challenge, Eurosport CEO Peter Hutton, said: “We created the Home of Cycling Series for the millions of fans who watch our coverage allowing them to live and share their passion for cycling through the three challenges. 260,000 people took part in the first two challenges and we are expecting many more to participate in this final event. The third is by far the easiest of the three challenges for fans to qualify for that memorable money-can’t-buy experience.
“This initiative is another example of our commitment to cycling and I’m delighted we are able to reward some of sports most passionate fans for their efforts. We’ve teamed-up with Strava, the social network for athletes, and secured some amazing prizes for the lucky winners. Best of all, it is completely free to enter.”
Tour de France stage winner and Eurosport’s lead cycling analyst, Juan Antonio Flecha, said: “The great thing about the Home of Cycling Series is that the three separate challenges have allowed cyclists of all abilities to get involved. The 10th Rider and Peaks challenges were not for the faint-hearted but the International Ride challenge allows novices the opportunity to win a truly amazing prize.
